San Diego Wheelchairs

There are a number of  San Diego wheelchairs available to people these days. This includes both electric and manual types. Your needs and budget will determine which type is best for you.

Much like with cars, you may well be able to get by with one of two wheel chairs but you could have an entire collection of them, designed to serve specific needs.

Primarily you will want to make sure you have one that you can get around in while performing basic activities of your life.

There are a few reasons why you will tend to prefer either a manual or electric wheel chair. The primary issue is whether or not you have full use of your arms. If you do then you will still have the option to go for a manual wheel chair. If not, then you don’t.

There are electric wheel chairs which offer thorough support for your neck and back and features enabling you to control the steering with minimal difficulty. For those living with severe muscular dystrophy or who have suffered from severe nerve damage this type of wheel chair will make the most sense.

However, anyone who is really only limited by injuries or ailments directly related to the lower back or legs should avoid relying on an electric wheel chair during the main part of the day unless they are leading a sedentary lifestyle and also able to buy and to keep sports wheel chairs for other activities. This may well be an economic issue, in whole or in part.

Manual wheel chairs tend to be lighter. Some are designed to be transportable more effectively than others. The axels are designed to enable wheel folding and collapse of the total structure. Electric wheel chairs are more likely to also require special vehicles for transport. For wealthier clientele this can be viewed as both fun and as a wise investment. For those with lower budgets it might make the decision for you to buy a manual wheel chair.

But don’t forget about medicare, if you can qualify, you may be able to get your wheelchair at no cost as medicare will pay 80% and your insurance company will pay the remainder.

The diversity of wheel chairs may seem overwhelming at first, but once you get accustomed to it, you will be relieved to have so many options available. Invacare, Guardian, Top End are examples of major wheel chair brands. Prices for San Diego wheelchairs vary, but the best require investments of $20,000 or more for an electric wheelchair.

For the cost of just one year of a private school or college you can outfit you or your loved one with an incredibly important piece of equipment which will keep them mobile.
