Blaine Hunt, President & CEO

Access Medical was founded in March of 2006 by Blaine Hunt. Blaine was introduced to wheelchairs and mobility devices through his sister. She also introduced him to her disabled friends. At birth, his sister could not breathe and suffered the effects of ataxia. She also suffered from joint deformities and significant eversion of her ankles.

Growing up in an environment where his sister needed assistive technology, and with a family business that taught Blaine the importance of immediate response, Blaine was inspired to seek out a profession in the healthcare industry. While Blaine was earning his degree in rehab science from Brigham Young University (BYU) he was introduced to the wide range of durable medical equipment products ranging from oxygen to complex rehab.

Seeing the needs of this unique industry and the positive impact that a healthcare professional can have on many lives, Blaine founded Access Medical. Blaine’s passion and attention to detail led him to specialize in custom mobility products that aid people with seating and positioning needs.
Through Access Medical Blaine is able to be actively involved in what he loves
to do, help people with their mobility needs and be involved in healthcare in a
way that changes people’s lives.

 

Joseph Sciarra, VP Business Development

Joseph Sciarra, ATP, joined Access Medical Rehab in 2012 to help make a difference in the rehab mobility community, and ensure that every customer is provided with the most effective mobility solution. With over 18 years of experience in business development and account management, Joseph has a proven track record for driving company growth and expansion, all while providing a strong customer-centered focus and delivering successful clinical outcomes.

Prior to his current position, Joseph led our Anaheim office as the regional account manager working with clinicians in the top rehab facilities to design custom mobility solutions. With a growing demand for reliable mobility solutions paired with customer service excellence, Joseph and his family relocated to Northern California to expand Access Medical’s mission into the greater San Francisco Bay Area. His passion and commitment to making
mobility solutions more accessible for clients has made Access Medical one of
the most reputable complex rehab providers in the San Francisco Bay Area.

 

Steve Sweetman, Vice President of Managed Care

California’s managed health care system is one of the most advanced and complicated in the nation. Steve Sweetman serves as Vice President of Managed Care and has been instrumental in assuring our participation in California and Hawaii health care networks since 2011. His expertise, extensive experience, and relationships enhance the company’s ability to assist its managed care clients. Steve’s responsibilities include the strategic direction and procurement of new insurance contracts as we expand beyond California and Hawaii.

He finds his position fulfilling and rewarding as he enhances the ability of Access Medical to provide necessary equipment to more people who need it.

 

Heather Albi, Director of Operations

Heather was born and raised in Southern California; she has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management from San Diego State University. She began working for Access Medical in 2012.

As Director of Case Management, Heather oversees the case management department whose overall goal is to drive the documentation process and ensure compliance with insurance standards and requirements. The case management department is the central line of communication and acts as a liaison between patients, sales staff, billing, doctors’ offices, and insurance companies. Heather’s role is to ensure all client files are processed timely and held to the highest standard.

 

Erin Kellar, Repair Tech Manager

Erin Kellar joined Access Medical in Carlsbad at the beginning of 2017 as a technician willing to assist clients wherever their needs took her. Before that, she spent years as a technician for National Seating and Mobility covering all of San Diego County. After a year with AMI, she became the Rehab Tech Manager to be a big proponent of customer service and addressing client needs and concerns timely by assisting technicians and procedures wherever the need arises. She is also in the warehouse helping to build, modify, and adjust chairs or troubleshooting over the phone when needed.

Erin is a California native that has lived in Northern California Bay Area for many years before relocating to Southern California. She has a M.B.A. in Management Sciences from C.S.U. Hayward where she learned to look at the big picture for client and company needs. She assists in driving a team work atmosphere that bridges the different departments and functions needed for successfully servicing our client needs.

 

Jeaneth Medrano, Orange County Branch Manager

Jeaneth was born and raised in Southern California; she has a Bachelor of Science degree Kinesiology from California State University Fullerton. She began working for Access Medical in 2016.

As the Orange County Branch Manager, Jeaneth oversees and maintains the operations and procedures of the Anaheim branch. As the Branch Manager, Jeaneth plays a key role in the recruiting, selecting, orienting and training of new hires. As the branch manager she also acts as the liaison of communication for the patients, sales staff, billing, and clinical referrals to provide the most excellent service to our patients.
