Meet the Staff

Blaine Hunt, ATP, RRTS

President & CEO

Blaine is our founder and has successfully directed Access Medical since its inception in March of 2006. He provides our vision and is committed to seeing it through. He has been directly involved in providing professional solutions in seating and positioning since 2004. Blaine is a recognized Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) within our industry. He is also experienced in ancillary contracts, cashflow management and compliance. Blaine holds a B.S. in Exercise Science with a Pre-Medical emphasis from Brigham Young University. 

Blaine loves spending his time with his family. They like to travel and see as much of the world as they can.

Yutthana “Toki” Tokijkla

Director of Rehab, OT, ATP:

Toki directs the services process at Access Medical. With over 20 years experience in assistive technology, both as an Occupational Therapist and as a director of many wheelchair companies. Toki manages the staff as well as our A to Z process. He currently ensures the best clinical outcomes and proper fitting of all complex rehab wheelchairs. He is familiar with all adult and pediatric wheelchairs. He became an OT in 1989 and in 2002 Toki was recognized as an ATP. Toki is known throughout the industry for doing things the right way for his patients. 

Toki is a master teacher. He loves helping his students in martial arts as well as helping younger people learn anything.

Ben Memmott

Director of Operations, ATP, RRTS:

Ben’s first contact with this industry was in 2007 at one of our branches in Orem, UT. At that time he had the opportunity to assist with assessments and deliveries of complex rehab wheelchairs. Ben is a recognized ATP in all counties in Southern California. Ben is certified to provide Ride Designs custom molds and in experienced in seating and positioning. In February of 2009 Ben was made Director of Operations for Access Medical. Ben has received training in compliance through trade shows and accreditation coaches. Ben is also fluent in Portuguese and Spanish. 

Ben loves to spend time with his young family. He also likes serving in nonprofit organizations.

Steve Underwood

RTS:

Steve manages all of Orange County for the company. He is certified to offer seating and positioning solutions for even the most complex situations. In addition to helping patients receive the best equipment available for their needs, he takes care of our marketing requests. 

In his spare time, Steve loves getting outside with his family and spending time at the beach.

Brian Piper

RTS:

Brian utilizes his rehab science background to provide mobility solutions to Southern California. Before joining Access Medical, Brian spent three years in the fitness industry where he managed a personal training department. Brian has a B.S. from Georgetown College where he majored in Exercise Science/Kinesiology and played football. 

After a successful college football career, Brian was picked up by the Cincinnati Bengals as an un-drafted free agent in 2008.

Sunshine Gutierrez

Rehab Assistant & Case Manager:

Sunshine is a Lead Rehab Assistant at Access Medical. She works directly with three of the Rehab Technology Suppliers within our group. Sunshine has certifications in Medical Billing and Coding. She provides expertise through the organization and management of patient files. She acts as a liaison between patients, doctors, insurance companies, and rehab specialists at Access Medical, and is responsible for retrieving all documentation and authorizations necessary to provide for our patients. Sunshine takes pride and enjoys helping others obtain mobility solutions. 

Sunshine loves spending time with her boys. She works hard to give them great opportunities.

Esther Alvarez

Rehab Assistant:

Esther is a Rehab Assistant at Access Medical. She works directly with two of the Rehab Technology Specialists at Access Medical as well as the repair department. She has a certification as a Medical Assistant and is continuing her education to get a degree in Nursing. She takes pride in her work and enjoys helping others obtain mobility solutions.

Esther enjoys spending time with her little girl and attending community events.

Stan Houseman

Billing Liaison:

Stan has worked in Durable Medical Equipment (DME) since 2008. During his time, he has had the opportunity to develop a wide array of skills that make him an asset to Access Medical and to the our patients as a whole. His experience with billing and coding, specific to complex rehab, is surprising. As our billing liaison, Stan has shown outstanding ability to develop strong relationships and establish goodwill. 

Stan is also a professional artist and a former semi-pro athlete in triathlons.

Lucette La Viscount

Billing Coordinator:

Lucette has been in the medical billing field for 20 years. She has experience in ambulance, home health, psychology, OB/GYN and DME billing. She has found complex DME billing to be her greatest challenge and it keeps her interest levels high. 

Lucette has a BS degree in Business Administration from San Diego State University. She grew up in San Diego and currently lives in North San Diego County.

Ruben Saenz

Wheelchair Technician:

Ruben works directly with patients to repair their wheelchairs. He is aspiring to become an RTS and to obtain the ATP certification. Before coming to Access Medical, Ruben worked as an automotive technician and uses that experience in his work. Ruben’s clients always give him high marks on patient reviews. He truly cares about the people he works with. 

Ruben spends his spare time with his family in Temecula. Ruben is a whiz with anything electronic.

Elwyn Thorp

Wheelchair Technician:

Elwyn’s technical background has primarily been in the auto industry. His strong mechanical inclination has allowed him to make a smooth transition. Since coming to Access Medical he has attended several technician courses given by manufacturers such as Invacare, Permobil and Quantum. He is engaged in any opportunity offered for complex rehab education. 

Elwyn likes to ride his dirt bike in MOTO X in his spare time.
