    0.2 AOTA CEUs/2.0 Contact Hours

Course Description: Drivability is defined as “the degree of smoothness and steadiness of acceleration”. When considering drivability in the terms of power wheelchair management, it is not only an extremely important factor for an end user’s safety in controlling the power wheelchair, but a huge consideration in the satisfaction and comfort of using the device. When evaluating an end user for a power mobility device, much consideration is given to the mobility base, seating components, and drive controls, but there are other features to consider as well. This course will look at these

important additional features including programming options, drive wheel configuration, suspension, and tracking technology.

    Speaker: Alex Chesney, OTR/L ATP/SMS

  • 2:30 PM - Balancing Function and Independence: Clinical Considerations for Power Adjustable Seat Height and Anterior Tilt

    0.1 AOTA CEUs/1.0 Contact Hours

Course Description: Power wheelchairs are designed to augment function when functional mobility is compromised or lost. However, this is not the only benefits that the power mobility systems can provide. There are critical components of this system that also facilitate or improve the end user’s ability to complete functional activities/ADLs, support their physical and mental health, provide independent repositioning for pressure relief, increase tolerance of the seated position, and increase the overall satisfaction of the equipment. These critical components are known as power positioning devices. While there are several different types of power positioning products on the market, this presentation will focus on the clinical benefits of power adjustable seat height and anterior tilt.

  • 3:30 PM - Finish
